Pretty in Pink

I have had a picture of the 2 little granddaughters for a couple of months, and was saving showing it, because I wanted to do something special with it. Pam at 365 gave me the opportunity this morning in her challenge for the day.


Today's Challenge:
Like so many, I was saddened to hear of the passing of John Hughes, who directed some of my all-time favorite 80's movies. My absolute favorite of his is Pretty in Pink, which I still enjoy watching when I get the chance. And so that is today's movie, which is intended to inspire your card.

I also loved this movie. Molly as Andie, and I am still enjoying watching Jon Cryer in 2 1/2 Men every night in reruns. He was so good as Duckie.

I thought this picture of the two little ones in their pink high tops was just the perfect fit for this challenge. I can just picture Molly Ringwald in these shoes. I made this into a photo card. The card itself has a built in easel. You just attach your photo, etc. onto the front of the easel. I hope you enjoy looking as much as I loved making it. Thanks to little Nat and Maddie for being my models today. It really looks so much better then the picture shows. The lighting this afternoon was terrible.

Can You Believe

It has been several months since I have contributed something to my blog this many days in a row. Well I'm sure you can guess why. Yep it is those gals over at 365. This card is for today's (Sunday) daily challenge. I'm sure after going back to work on Monday, things will change. I just don't have the time. Also this week Pat has a fabulous challenge over at Southern Breezes. We are to make a shaped box. I still have not figured out what mine will be. Robyn at Jerzgirl4ever, has got me inspired to do something for one of my furry friends. So we will see what comes from that. This is the sketch that the challenge for 365 was based on:

Now this is my interpretation of that sketch.

I'm sorry but I do not know who the DP is by, it was found in some that I had just recently found stashed back in a cabinet. The butterfly is cut using the Cricut, Home Accents cartridge. It was cut from Best Occasions Pearl Pack. You can't hardly see it, but I do have a diamond shaped cutout on top of the striped middle piece. It and the butterfly both was adhered with 3D dots. Instead of adding ribbon to extend down below the strip across the middle, I let the butterfly's wings do the job. I had to add a little bling, so added some stick on pearls from MS to the butterfly's body. Thanks for looking. Don't forget to go check out Pat's Saturday Night challenge this week.

Oh No

I am about to get hooked on 365 cards. I did Saturday's challenge also. The card had to have a ball on it somewhere. Madison my grand daughter, plays soccer, and she is not a timid player, she puts everything she has in to it. I made this card to give to her a little later in the season. Madison's favorite color is, well last week it was pastel green or pink. I went with those colors, using pastel green for the base card, next layer was a pattered piece of black I have no ideal where it came from, then the pink card stock. (I was using up scraps that were on my desk.) Then I downloaded the soccer ball from a clip art site, cut it out, and adhered it with a foam dot. Way to go, came from George and Basic shapes Cricut cartridge. The word girl came off a sticker sheet without a name. It said girlfriend, but will use the friend part on something else. So far I have had a wonderful day. Got my house cleaned early, and that is always a good thing. Now is time to sit down and play. Thank you for looking

365 Cards & Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to my very special friend. You know who you are *wink*

I came across this blog while just looking around. I decided to do their Friday challenge. So here is mine.

The card base is from Best Occasions Pearlescent Paper Pack. I used the gray (I know it looks purplish) and the pale yellow. I used Cricut's Home Accents cartridge to cut out the word faith and the dandelion. I finished it off with a little bling to dot the i. The challenge was to:

Dear To Me

I am so glad it is almost Thursday, the weekend is heading our way. It will be a busy weekend, but the main thing is that I won't have to get up at 5:00 AM.

This weeks challenge from Pat was to make a layout about someone very dear to you. I have many many people dear to me, but this time I chose to make a page about my dad that died in Oct. of 99. I chose a picture of him when he was in the Navy during WWII. He was around 20 years old. He served on the Fighting Lady, the USS Yorktown. After Daddy got out of the Navy he met my Mom then married in 1946. Daddy was a painter all his life, so I chose to use paint chips to place the picture on. The paper is Blue Awning by K&CO. I added a journal tag, with a button, that I thought looked like came off a military uniform. I used dental floss that I colored with a marker to thread through the button and cascade down the tag. For finishing up I added several rhinestones around on the page. Thanks for letting me share this memory of a very dear person to me... My Daddy...My Hero.

Sunshine, Chocolate, & Miss Flossie Mae

Oh me are you as excited that it is the weekend as I am. I really need some quiet time. Seems like the last 2 weeks has really been full, which is also a good thing, just a tiring thing. Pat's challenge this week was to be inspired by our favorite candy. I have ran this one over and over in my mind all week. Of course Robyn, my favorite is also M&M's. How could it be anything else. But I did have to choose between two. As a child growing up, Cotton Candy was my favorite. We just got it 2 times a year. That was in the Spring and Fall. That was when the traveling carnival came to town. Well it really didn't come to our town, but to where I live now. About 30 miles away. I couldn't wait to get to buy that.


Honestly, I didn't copy Robyn, we both just happen to have the same inspiration, M & M's, the peanut kind of course. I made this card for my Mom, since she has been a little under the weather. (Thanks for all the prayers). I used the major colors of the package, brown and yellow. I used the Cricut cartridge, George and Basic Shapes, to cut my yellow flowers, in graduated sizes. I rolled the tips of all of them with a pencil, adhered the layers together, then used little buttons, trying to use the same colors of M&M's that are found in the package. The little rub-on, You are My Sunshine, is one that I found laying on my desk. This challenge was simple quick and fun. Thanks Pat.



And to finish up, I will treat you with a couple of pictures of Miss Flossie Mae, that Allan happened to take tonight. She just loves to help me with my organization skills, as you can see in the 2nd picture. Since she was an orphan kitten, we don't really have her date of birth, so we will celebrate it on Aug. 27th. That is the day of 2008, that I brought home under the hood of my car. Yep she will be officially a member of our family for 1 whole year. She has grown so much. She isn't as loving as I would like for her to be. She definitely isn't a lap cat, except when she wants to be scratched. She has a persnickety personality.
