It's been a week!

I didn't realize it but it has been a week since I posted anything. So that means it is going to be a long one this time. It is hot and humid in the Foothills of NC, and it is just the middle of June. Can you believe the year is almost half gone. I will always reflect back on 2010 with great sadness, grief and loss. Friday was a good day. My granddaughter Amber (Scott's daughter) came to spend most of the day with me. We started out with breakfast. Oh and what a breakfast it was. We had waffles, biscuits and gravy, hash browns and bacon. Breakfast would probably be my favorite meal of the day, if I could eat like that all the time. It is usually fruit & cereal. After consuming all that delicious food, we went to the cemetery. We sat and talk a long time, each sharing their personal feelings. Amber even done the chauffeuring, so it was a very good day. She even shared her Starbucks Capichino. We do not have a Starbucks where I live, so she stopped on the way and got us one. Yes the 1500 calorie kind ;) but we shared. She is so tiny she could have 5 of those a day and it wouldn't bother her. Last week was my Mother's B/D so we had a small impromptu family gathering. I forgot my camera but I will share a picture of her at a recent wedding. On the way home, we stopped at a roadside produce stand. We got cantaloupes (the best of the season) a watermelon, peaches (yum yum) and cukes. My cukes did not do good this year yet. I came home and picked my first mess (that is what us Southerners call a picking of beans) of green beans. Pat, I am eating those for you!! Also here are pictures of her homemade cards. One from me and 2 others from my sons and then the 2 little granddaughters. Oh and the best part, homemade cupcakes. Mom loves that wax fruit candy. I found little miniature ones. I flavored the cupcake and icing to match the candy slice. I thought they looked festive. They didn't taste to bad either. Have a good week. Thanks for letting me share.

Pink Saturdays

Beverly at How Sweet The Sound has a weekly "PINK SATURDAYS" I have been checking in on there Saturday post for a while now, and decided to join along this week. I planned on making a scrap page for Madison's scrapbook this week so it all fell into place. Some of you have already seen the photo of the pink tennis shoes, so I used it and another picture of the girls and just put pink everywhere. Thanks for looking. Please go look at all the different pink items she has to show you.

Sunday Sketch

Here is my 365cards Sunday Sketch.
I use papers from The Linen Closet Matstack. The flower from the bridal section at Michaels. The ribbon, and pearls came from the top of my desk. ;)

Summer Nights

And the summer nights are upon us down here in NC. The humidity is beginning to rise. Pat's Saturday challenge is about summer fun. One of my happiest memories is when the boys were little, and I showed them how to catch fireflies. since Scott's death, I reflect back a lot about their childhood. Good, wonderful, happy times.

I used Cricut's Stretch Your imagination cartridge to cut out the canning jar and the fireflies. I used Plantain School house for the grass. I cut the canning jar out of the clear acetate, then the jar lid out of silver foil paper and roughed it up a little so it would look like one of the old "timey" type lids. I adhered the jar with3d dots, also the fireflies underneath the jar, and in the night skies. the others in grass were just stuck on. I hope you get out this summer and catch some fireflies. Be young again.
And yes always remember to catch and RELEASE those little wonders.

Around My House

My Mom, Sister and Niece came to visit today. As they were getting ready to leave, we walked around the house so Mom could see my flowers and garden. Ashley, my Niece took some shots with he phone camera. She takes better shots with it then I do my real camera. Hope you enjoy seeing them.

The Clematis winding around my light post

And finally but most important. Miss Flossie Mae using her best manners for our company.

365 Cards Sunday Sketch

At 365 they have a Sunday Sketch challenge. Go here to see the sketch. I have all the elements of the sketch on it, just not in the same order. The paper was a scrap, so I have no ideal where it came from. Well everything on it was lying on my table. So this should qualify for a scrap challenge too if there is one out there somewhere. ;) Oh the main difference was that I made a first aid kit instead of a card. oops.

Shades of Brown

Shades of Brown, that is what my yard is going to look like if we have a dry summer, and don't get lots of rain this summer. But on to the Southern Breezes challenge this week. It is none other then "Shades of Brown" We have a friend that has a birthday next week and masculine cards are so very hard for me. He is a fantastic fisherman, always out fishing my husband. (Allan my DH, doesn't know I am sharing that) The image is digital, and I tweaked the image a little with some brown pencil. I went on to,layer it on 2 other shades of brown. I finished it off with 3 multi shades of brown buttons. Thanks for looking. I am off to do my rain dance now. ;)
