We had really warm weather today, frost this morning and then temps in the 80s this afternoon. I think a big patch of thunderstorms are rolling our way. I hope they slow down until after 4 on Sunday. Monday is my granddaughter's birthday party. She will be 21 on Monday. It will be so bittersweet. It was her Daddy that died in Feb. It is another "first" we have to face. Everything has changed since that day. Nothing will ever be the same again.
Pat's challenge this week was to use black with just a pop of color. Well I kinda sorta went by the rules. Amber, my granddaughter loves black and pink, so for her party, I made a giant card for her. I hope everyone that comes to the party will sign it and add some good wishes to it. I used poster size card stock for the black base and white layers . The letters were cut using my cricut with the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. The pink and black flower was made using wrapping paper and the tutorial found here.

Getting Senile
Well it is after nine, and I was suppose to have had my card for Pat's Saturday Challenge posted by nine. I rushed and took pictures, then rushed to go to blog. After about 10 attempts, I finally remembered what my password was to this account. I kept trying to use my passwords to face book and hot mail, and the such. So after a Duh and a slap on the head, I finally got logged in. Pat's challenge was to "cut something out". Well I am bending the rules, by not actually even doing a card, but using an example from another project I am working on. May 3rd my granddaughter will be 21. We are throwing a party for her, and I am working on a banner for it, plus a scrapbook. Yes I have known about her birthday for 21 years and just now trying to fit 21 years into a 2 week period. I have definitely turned into a procrastinator. But here is a picture of several of the letters I am working on for the banner. I cut out the letters using my Cricut and the Platin Schoolhouse cartridge. Everyone have a good weekend. It is suppose to rain here.

It's Late, It's Late
I know my submission for Pat's challenge is late, but just remembered that Friday had come and gone, and I hadn't posted yet. This week she said for us to make a card, using our favorite colors. Well, everybody that knows me, knows that my favorite color is purple. so here is a simple birthday card using Memory Box, Party Time stamp set. Thanks for checking in on me again this week.

Just a Farming
And I don't mean on Facebook either. Here in NC we had such a beautiful day. The sun was out and the temperature was a little below average for this time of year, but just perfect for Farming. I tilled up my little patch of garden that is in my backyard. I ran out two tanks of gas in the tiller, getting the ground so soft and weed free. I now have onions, potatoes and 3 different kinds of salad lettuce planted. I found several sunflowers coming up from last year in the garden. I did enjoy being outside today. I did take time to work on a card for a special birthday that I am late on. Last Saturday was Carolyn's birthday and I let it slip by. I feel so bad about it. Carolyn was one of the first phone calls I made, when I found out about my son's death. Her and her husband were right there taking care of things that had to be done from the very beginning. So here is her belated birthday card. She understands and still loves me, even if I am late.
Pat's challenge this week was to use one of her favorite techniques, which is piecing. I used papers by Sassafras, the Sunshine lollipops collection. I cut out the little bird from on pattern paper and used a foam dot to pop it on what looks like a tree on another sheet from the same collection. I also cut an extra flower out and popped it over the other one. I cut out around the shape of the top of the paper then attached it to another pattern, still using the 3d dots. So we have about 3 layers going on. I finished it off with a chocolate colored satin ribbon. Happy Birthday, Carolyn.
P.S. The birdhouse was a gift from one of my son's neighbors. I walk by his house everyday while walking their dog Bondo. Isn't it such a wonderful RAK.

Bunny Rabbit Tails
This week at Pat's Southern Breezes Saturday NIght challenge we were to either make a card or treat holder for Easter. I chose to make a treat holder, something to hold some things for the little girls in my life. I do not remember who's blog I saw these on originally. I am sorry for not linking you to it. I found these little chocolate covered marshmallows too, I thought well some bunnies are chocolate. Enjoy.
