Saturday Night

We had a busy weekend. There was a reunion and then on Saturday night a Retirement Party for a friend of ours. The invitation said no gifts, but I wanted take a little something. This is what I came up with. I can't remember the name of the paper, but it came from a pack I picked up at Big Lots. I made the tin and put another little first aid kit in it. Since I had plenty of the card stock left over, I just made a matching card. Thanks for looking. Can you believe it is almost July???? I can't.

That's What Friends (Family) Are For

I have some special friends whose parents adopted me into their family about 20 years ago. They always include me and Allan in all the get together's and anything that is going on. Well Becky and Jeff have been saving all their Altoid Tins for me. And I mean Jeff goes through a bunch of them. I think altering these tins is my favorite paper crafting project, and they make it very economical for me. So I figured it was about time, I made them something with them. They ride Harleys so I tried to incorporate that into their altered tins. This is what I came up with. I made little first aid kits for them to put in the saddle bags. We all know there is limited space on a bike to store things. I included band aids, anti-itch cram, alcohol prep pads, pain reliever, neosporin, and anti acids, and you can always use chap stick. I printed out the Biker's Prayer and put it on the inside of the lid. We want them to stay safe. On Becky's tin, I added a little bow to the front. The last picture is of Becky and Jeff in Hawaii on a Biker's Get- A- Way.

Sunday Dinner

Growing up, Sunday Dinner after church was always so special. You know like one of those Norman Rockwell pictures. Wished I could go back to Mom's for dinner today. But that isn't possible with her being in ill health.

So I did the next best thing. Went out to my little garden. I got green beans, little new potatoes, spinach, 2 different kinds of lettuce, and onion. I think I may fry chicken to go with the green beans and mashed potatoes. And top it off with good Southern Iced Tea. Oh yes, fresh peach cobbler for dessert. TFL Everyone have a blessed day.

A Birthday and Challenge

We had another birthday in the family today, so I combined Pat's challenge and Eric's Birthday Card. Pat's Challenge this week was to make a gift card holder, since it was Father's Day. This card will suffice as a Birthday and Father's Day Card. Eric's Birthday is so close to Father's Day, we just combine. Masculine Birthday cards are just so hard for me to make. And I need lots of them at my house. His little girls had another party to go to, tonight, so we decided to wait and celebrate tomorrow. I will make a cake and take to his house. I used all scraps on this card. I printed out the front and inside sentiment on the computer. I have thought all day of what to put on his card and finally came up with this simple card that has a gift card pocket on the inside. The card is glued to a tag with a ribbon on it, so he can pull it right out.

Happy Birthday Dear Allan

Well today is my husbands birthday. Before he retired the first time, he worked for 30 years as a Distribution Lineman Tech. He was on call constantly, working day and night some weeks. A lot of people do not realize how stressful and dangerous the job really is. He has decided he is going to celebrate all week. Yesterday he fished all day. And today, he is planing on playing golf if it doesn't start raining again. Then tonight we will celebrate with some friends. Thanks for letting me share his day with you.

The Weekend

I do hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as much as I did. I worked out side most of it. I am paying for it this morning, not moving as fast as normal. First of all I will share the best part of all. The picking of the green beans of 2009.
The next pictures are of the white section of my "Memory Garden" In this portion of it, Calla Lillys, and other Lillys grow with the more common flowers, Yarrow, and Daisies. That is what I like about it. It also includes the white Sweet Pea vine. Thanks for looking, I thought it might make Monday a little brighter.

A Prune

I don't know about the rest of you,but in this part of the world, we have been having daily thunderstorms. Lots and lots of rain. I am beginning to feel like a shriveled up prune, but then my DH just informed me, that wasn't what it was, it was my age. How dare him. *wink*

Pat's Saturday Night Challenge, was to use up some scraps that was from some of your last projects. I had been making graduation cards, and really didn't have many scraps just laying out. And I had cleaned my desk up Saturday evening. For some reason when I need white card stock. I always grab a new sheet, instead of searching through my scraps. I had seen a similar ideal awhile back, and thought this would be the perfect time to use it. Plus since I was running out of time, it would be a quick one. I used the Cricut, Stretch Your Imagination Cartridge to cut out the trees and the little birdhouse. I used a Bic Mark It to just outline the little birdhouse in blue. I had a piece of white thread that was holding the tag on a new piece of clothing, laying on the desk, so I used it to hang the birdhouse from the tree branch. I used dimensional dots to attach one of the trees. Next time I will make the trees different sizes. I think that would help the looks of the card a lot. Thanks for letting me share.

THANK YOU & UPDATE

I want to thank everyone that has and is going to send cards for Ashley. Good news, Ashley is now out of the hospital. She has a lot more recuperation ahead of her, but you know that will come so much easier at home, and not so far away from family and friends. Please keep her and her Dad, who is still hospitalized in your prayers. Thanks again.

Birthday and More Birthdays

June is like February, lots and lots of birthdays.

I have two special people celebrating today. The first one is for Wanda, if you ever read the comments to my post you will recognize her name from there. She faithfully checks my blog everyday, and then leaves a remark. This card I made for her, (which will be in mail real soon) my husband said was his favorite of all the cards I've made. He liked the bright colors that I used. Hope you have the most special birthday Wanda, Thanks again for supporting me in my creative ventures.

The second birthday for today is my Mother. She has been a follower of mine since day one of my life. Thanks Mom, for always believing in me. She is 86 today, and with failing health. I am having a birthday cookout for her today at my house. My siblings will all come too. So, Happy Birthday Mom.

The Journey of Life

Pat's Saturday Night Challenge this week, has been so much fun. We were to make a shaped card. I thought about making a graduation cap, but then I realized I had been working on Graduation cards all week, and thought I needed to move on to something different. I had seen this little car a long time ago and saved it to a file. It did not have the door panels, or fenders drawn in, just the windows. Of course I cut it out of purple card stock, then drew in the lines where I thought the doors and fenders should be. I used blings for door handles, head lights, brake lights, and the hub caps. I layered vellum behind the windows, that had been stamped with a stamp by River City Rubber Works. (Isn't that just the cutest stamp) there is another woman in the back seat, you just can't see her. I then cut out the shape of the front of the card, and adhered it to the inside of the front, to hide the vellum. That is me in the back seat, pretending to be Miss Daisy, because I do not enjoy driving. *wink* Thanks Pat for such a fun project this week. I had to take the pictures tonight, and the lighting was terrible. The card looks 3 different colors.

And finally the inside of the card:

Ashley Update

Several people have asked for an update on Ashley, , my granddaughters friend who was shot 3 times last week.
Ashley is out of ICU, they have removed the chest tube. They did say she had a very long road to recovery. Her father is improving slowly also. The only problem, she is at one hospital and he is at another medical center about 1 hour away. That has to be so very hard on the family. I am looking forward to receiving some cards to send her way. Thanks.
