Thank You

There is no way to express my thanks to all of you. The prayers, the notes, the floral tributes, the visits, the moment of silence you may have had in his memory. These are the things that sustained me and my family this past week. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. I am starting a new chapter in my life. This is a chapter, I hoped I would never have to write. But for some reason, God chose me for this particular heart retching trial. It will be an uphill battle the rest of my life. It is a chapter I hope none you ever have to write. Again thanks to all my friends and family.

It's late, really late

Here is my Saturday night challenge from Pat at Southern Breezes. Dead line was yesterday at 9 PM but her being the nice person she always is, takes into consideration that people have circumstances that prevent them sometimes from meeting the time frame. You know like unscheduled naps and the such *wink* This week it was to use embossing, and really because of being busy this week, and the naps (I can not lie) I took the easy way out and embossed this birthday card with Glossy accents by Ranger. I will be back later with some pictures of some things I have been working on this week, And no it isn't a picture of me sleeping. ;)

It's On, It's On

I always welcome Ash Wednesday. Here in foothills of NC, we have Hibriten Mtn. Every Ash Wednesday the Cross is lighted. It reminds me that in about six weeks nature will start sprouting it's new spring colors. Sometimes under a blanket of snow, but at least they are sprouting. Courtesy of Frank Stevens Photography, here is a picture of the cross. Also on Thanksgiving night, the mountain lights up with A Star. I can look out my back door and see this exact picture. Aren't I blessed, with the reminders of God's love at these seasons.

But MA, it's Valentine's Day!

That is what Flossie Mae kept telling me all Sunday morning. Her beau, came visiting, and I would not let her out of the house. As you can see in the first picture he has been gallivanting around for days. His little face shows signs of new fight wounds. I could not make her understand that he had been cheating on her. " HUMPH", she says to me, "well it is Valentine's Day". She said, that I was just jealous because my DH forgot what day it was. *wink* The pictures aren't very good, the reflection from the glass messed them up.
For the little grand-daughters I crocheted them each little caps. They are the tight fitting kind, and when on their heads the little butterfly shows up really pretty. I also made them little necklaces out of Shrinky Dinks. I added a little ribbon rose, and used red ribbon for the chain. Also here is a picture of my dining room table that I had set for Valentine's Day. Thanks for letting me share.

Are you tired of hearing me talk about SNOW

Well I am tired of talking about snow. What is it about the weekend and snow? Anyway as I write this, it is snowing again. Where I live, we aren't suppose to get snow this often. Okay, I will hush now.
Now let's move on to Pat's Saturday Challenge which is:

How did you get into stamping and what were your favorite stamps and inks to work with? This should be fun for all!! When your project is finished simply link to it in the comment section of this post. As always, anyone, anywhere can play along! Have fun!!

First of all I will tell how I got into card making. My older sister had started playing with it some, and it caught my attention, but then, Pat came into my life. Even before I had ever met her, I knew a lot of special things about her, and felt like I had known her all my life when the time finally came for us to meet . We had a mutual friend (Emily) that shared things about the each of us with the other. How many of you have noticed the quote at the top of my blog? This is the story of that quote. Tragedy struck and we lost our very close friend, Emily. So through tragedy, I was united with Pat. Through our inconsolable grief we were brought together. and found an instant kinship. Pat brought the love of stamping and scrap booking & card making into my life, along with her friendship. That has been 4 years, and we both feel as if we have been a part of each other's lives forever. We both have so many separate memories of Emily that we love to share with each other. Emily will always be with me, because of Pat and Emily's sister, Dee.

Along with Pat's friendship and love of stamping she introduced me to so many friends that I have never really got to meet. There is Robyn (BFF), Pam, & Donna, just to mention a few.

So now on to my card for the challenge. In the beginning I had not acquired many stamping goodies, so I relied on clip art and things like that to make my cards with. So this card came from a card print program that my sons had given me for Christmas. I rearranged it, and added my own embellishments to make it more personal. After layering it on the pink card stock, I scored the left hand edge at 1.5 inches. I cut another piece of the pink card stock at the same measurements, stacked the two together, and punched the two holes to thread my ribbon through. I think I like the look of the hinged side. So I went back to my roots, by using a digital image and added a new way of displaying it. Thanks for letting me share the card, and mine and Pat's story.

Another snow day

I got another snow day today. I just worked Wednesday and Thursday this week, because of bad weather. I did get to work on Pat's Challenge today, so it will be on time for once. The challenge was to make a card using a mish mash of techniques, embellishments, and mediums. I should have reread the instructions better, because I did not use any techniques :( But this is what I came up with. I used leftovers from other projects, that was lying on my desk. It isn't quite what Pat had in mind, but I promise I'll do better next time. I have had a ball this week playing with Outlines stamps. I had stamped this little rabbit and colored it earlier in the week, but just never used it on anything. The ribbon, and pearls was leftovers too, as was the card stock. I finished off the inside with a little portion of the stamp. This qualifies the card for the challenge today at 365 Cards too. Thanks for coming to visit with me today.

Thinking Spring

With all this yucky, dirty snow on the ground, all my attentions have turned to Spring, and being able to play outside in my little vegetable garden and flowers. Since this isn't going to be possible for awhile, (the dreaded forecast is that we will have more winter mix this weekend), I made a little note book to keep garden ideas, planting dates, and the such in. I just recently got my hands on some stamps by Outlines. They are so great. I love the Spring and Easter ones. I will share with you some of the things I have made with them, since I have had a 4 day weekend because of the snow. I had so much fun "coloring" and cutting out the cutest little bunnies. I think I got carried away with the little bunnies. *wink* The first pictures are of the little garden notebook. I stamped the Outlines stamp of this wheelbarrow overflowing with beautiful flowers from the garden, then used all kinds of mediums and embellishments to bring emphasize the beauty of the stamp. I divided up the pages and added MS month tabs, so I could plan ahead month by month. The notebook I picked up at Big Lots, and it had this ugly looking cover. This Outlines stamp, really made a big difference. On the inside of the back cover,is another little bunny. That is because the real bunnies in my real garden, usually get the first of the tender vegetables. So, this will remind me of that fact every time, I make some new notes in my journal.
Next is a little tag card I made using two different masked Outlines stamps and then layering them together. Again I used different pens and pencils to "color" my little Easter Egg. Boy I wish I could make real ones that had all those beautiful designs on them.

And third, is pictures of some napkin rings, I made using the little rabbit. I used pale pink flocking on the tail. As you may have guessed by now, I have simply fell in love with the little fuzzy bunny. I think these will really dress up my Easter Sunday tablescape. The grandchildren will particulary love them. I have more ideals for these little bunnies, so come back and visit closer to Easter.
