Chicken Little

Remember the story about "Chicken Little". Didn't you just love that little story. Well this little gal might grow up to be Chicken Little some day. But, for the time being, I am using her to put on front of a big lollipop for the grand kid's Easter Baskets. I found her one day while blog hopping, printed out the template, and forgot to get any specifics on her. I rescanned the template and printed her out on yellow card stock and the feet and beak on orange CS. Then just cut them out and layered them together. You cannot tell in the picture but the head is a circle layered onto the body with wings. The little beak is two pieces, and I put a little dimensional dot between the upper and lower beak, to make it stand opened a little. After seeing the picture I took of her, I realize I should have outlined all the different pieces in black, so it would stand out better. I need to make four of these. I had a nice relaxing weekend, crafted a little, and watched the Basketball games. Hope all of you got to do what you liked. Thanks for looking.

Happy Birthday Gwyn

March 27th, is a long time friend's birthday. He is one of those people that is always pulling something over on you. Remind me sometime to share the alligator story with all of you. I used Pat's challenge of making a window card to make his birthday card. Gwyn is an avid fisherman. The boat on the card is nothing like the boat he fishes out of, but the fish symbolizes how big the fish are that he can catch.

I made the card 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 square. I cut the window out of the base of the front of the card and the first layer of patterned paper. Then I framed the window with the negative part where I used the square nestie on solid black . I used the Cricut Sampler cartridge to cut the boat & fisherman. I adhered it to the inside of the card, where it would show through the window. The fish and water are the result of Googling for fish clip art. I printed and cut it out, adhered it to only the outside edges of the frame, so the card would still open easily. I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but I put Happy Birthday to the catch of the day, up high enough that it doesn't show through to the front part of card. It still looks a little empty, but I was afraid to add anything else, because I wanted the fish on the hook to be the vocal point. Thanks for letting me share, and again Happy Birthday, Gwyn. Don't forget to check back on Pat's blog this week to see what has already been entered and again Saturday night at 8:00 pm to see what the rest of the crowd has entered and to find out what the new challenge will be.

Let's eat

While playing with my Cricut the other day, I cut out a bunch of different flowers in different sizes. After putting them together, I needed something to put them on. I can not find my "tote" that I packed my Easter things in last year, so I do not have my Easter napkin rings. I cut all the flowers out of white card stock, then colored them with sharpies and layered them together. I used scraps that were left over that had never been cleaned off my desk to make the actual ring to go around the napkin. I just used a dimensional foam dot to apply them to the ring. TFL

Well the weekend is over. No more playing. Get to go to work. This is how I spent a little of my Saturday. I enjoyed it tremendously.

My DH tilled up my little patch of garden for me on Friday.
Next came this. Now I have to wait an average of 45 days :(
I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday. I plan too make mine the best I can.

All Cracked Up

I got excited when I read the rules for Pat's challenge this week. I had seen a card something like this on the web somewhere and had been wanting to make one like it. This would be the perfect opportunity. I will give one to each of my little granddaughters for Easter. The one I saw did not have the flower, but I thought I had to have some embellishments on mine. Pat's rules were: to use either ovals, circles or some kind of shape either punched out or hand cut to make a card or LO. She made the cutest little bunny as a sample.

I made a pink and purple one. Their favorite colors. It is plain and simple but I liked the concept. I used the Doodlecharms Cricut cartridge for the egg and the yellow yolk that the little feet are popping out of was made using the Accent Essentials cartridge. Now I am off to make a little bunny like Pat's.

One Year

Can you believe I have been blogging one year today. I looked back, at all my post, and I have had quite a variety of different post. One thing I notice was how faithful I was at the very beginning to post everyday. Things sure have slowed down. Another sad thing, was the mention of the passing of several of my friends. Things sure change in one year don't they. I celebrated this anniversary earlier yesterday. I worked on my pretty things almost all weekend. It was a real rainy weekend, so I used it to finish up some things I had started and sit aside. I have met so many wonderful people, too many to mention. And I want to thank all my FAITHFUL FOLLOWERS. the ones that always checks and leaves such special remarks.

Here is one of the cards I made over the weekend. I still do not know what sentiment I will put on the inside of it yet.

Robyn had made the cutest little vase possible for Pat's Saturday night challenge. And vases were on my mind. You can't tell from this picture, but the little vase is cut out and put on with pop dots. It stands out from the rubbed on flowers beneath it. I added a little curve in the paper to make it look real. I added several layers of paper and changed directions of some of the layers. I used two layers of embossed paper. I hand stitched little holes around the layer that holds the vase. I also added several layers inside, so it wouldn't be front heavy. Thanks for listening and looking today.

Bah Humbug

Oh sorry, this isn't Christmas is it. The weather fooled me. *wink* After having high seventies and low 80's at the beginning of the week, we are now experiencing colder temps again. I am afraid it will get the blooming trees and flowers.

Pat's challenge for this week is to make a layered card. Like she said this came easy for all of us. After thinking about it now, it would probably be hard to make a card without a layer.
Robyn has gone off for weekend with the girls. Pat has card classes, but I will probably just stick around the house, since it is suppose to be really cold on Saturday. Thanks Pat for the challenge,I hope everyone has a great weekend. Here's that card:

The base and the layers are all just basic card stock. I cut the little spirals with my Cricut. I placed the spirals on 4 little square layers of card stock then two more layers, Making 4 layers total. Then added the ribbon and sentiment. Thanks

Signs of Spring

There are so many signs of Spring this year already. It is hard to believe just a week ago today, I had a snow day. This morning at 6:50 it is already 63 degrees. Other signs are the birds singing so profusely. The crocuses, daffodils, early Japanese Irises. And the Forsythias. Here is a snap shot of some I brought in to the house and forced bloomed them. I wanted them for my table setting on Sunday. Another real BIG and MAJOR sign of Spring. Is SORE MUSCLES and everyone walking around like their backs have given out. I worked all weekend like there would be no tomorrow, and I had to get it done. I have a small house but a pretty good sized flowerbeds. They go around the perimeter of my house. Nd then there is my veggie and herb gardens. I had to clean them all out, and pick but limbs from last weeks storm, and just a lot of other back breaking projects. But I enjoyed every minute of it. I did have some fun away from house though. It was my Grand-daughters other Grandmothers Birthday. I won't tell her age, cause Pat told me her Grandmother said it was unmannerly. *wink*. Just had to tease you Pat.

But her family gave her what was supposed to be a surprise Birthday Party. But someone let it slip. It was a full course meal. Then cake & ice cream with whipped frosting. And chocolate cupcakes with butter cream frosting. I chose the chocolate cupcakes. And as they say "A Good Time Was Had By All"

Here is the snapshot of my table setting with the Forsythias. I brought in some Hyacinths for fragrance, but forgot to take picture of them.

Hope your week end was as pleasurable as mine, but your Monday not as PAINFUL. *wink*

Possibly Pat's Challenge

Seems like Pat and Robyn got the snow they wanted. We got some here in NC but not like it looked like Pat got. We received about 3 inches.

I'm hoping that Pat will accept this as a challenge entry. She said a LO or Card. Well I did an Altered photo album. A friend wanted me to alter one of those Dollar Tree little albums that holds 100 photos. The size of it would hold 4x6 photos, that you can slip in those clear plastic sleeves. It is to be a gift for her sister, but instead of photos, it will hold recipes. Pat's challenge was to incorporate flowers in our projects. Here is what I came up with. Hope it is what my friend had in mind for her sister, and what Pat wanted for her challenge.

The first picture is of the front of the little book

This second picture is of the spine of the book.
