Brrrrr

Well after having temps in the 80's, last week, this freezing weather, sure is like a slap in the face. I'm sure my tender plants in my little veggie garden and all the new bedding plants, I worked with over the past weekend, are saying OUCH this morning. My mother told me last night, that my paternal grandmother always said, don't plant anything till after May 10th. I should have listened. This is a picture of my clematis that was blooming up my deck, I haven't the heart to look this morning. Besides it is still dark out, and I really won't know till the sun comes out on them. Another reason, I don't have a project to post is that I cleaned my working space up last night, and didn't have the heart to mess it back up. Everything was returned to its original space. I know it won't last, but it feels good today. My sister emailed me today, and she is coming Saturday and we will work on little favors for her to give the ladies in her church friendship circle. She has the May meeting. We only live about 45 minutes away, but don't really spend any one on one time with each other like we should. Our families pull us in so many different directions. I am really looking forward, to being with her and being creative together. I will show you the results on Sunday. The high temperature is suppose to be around 70 this afternoon after work, so I will not miss my walk, with one of my sons. We have been walking regularly for about 3 years after I get off from work. Well we weren't as faithful as the postman, but came pretty close.

Have a good day, and remember the people that had their lives ripped out from underneath them in Virgina. They need our prayers.

Heather's Challenge

Heather's Friday Spark was to make something look wet. Well I did, but it didn't show up in the bad photo that I took. I used the glaze pens to color the rain drops then some spots on the flowers so they would look as if they had rain on them. I know it is another rainbow. Evidently, I needed the reminder that the rainbows brings, myself. Hope everyone sees their own rainbow today.

P.S. I don't know why the pansies look as if they are frowning, maybe they don't like the rain.

Pat's Saturday Night Challenge

Here is my take on Pat's challenge. I didn't exactly do it her way. (But when have I ever) *wink* wink* I put the little girl on top of the cut away with gel in it, instead of behind. I even had the blue hair gel, so it worked out fine. I outlined the edges of the puddle with blue chalk. I found the little girl by googling, and also the rainbow, printed them, and cut them out. Put them on the card with pop up dots. (Thanks to whomever I borrowed them from)

I think of Rainbows as Love notes from God. I will send this card to someone who is having a rough time right now. Inside reads; "For I know thy thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you an expected end." Jeremiah 29:11

Good Sunday Morning

I had a perfect day yesterday. I went to Lowe's with a neighbor and we both bought way too many flowers, we thought. But after I got them in the flower beds, I ran out. Then about 2:00pm, we had a big thunderstorm. I worked on Heather'challenge awhile,Then went to see the grand-daughters , so I didn't complete it. So I don't have any pictures to show you tonight. Have a blessed Sunday, will be back in the morning tomorrow with Heather's completed challenge. Have a blessed Sunday.

SUMMER FUN

Spring is here so we know Summer is not far behind. This is a page out of a scrap book that my grand-daughter is making for her friend. It is of them last summer at the pool. I really enjoy knowing she is having lots of fun, as a teenager. Life smacks you in the face, way to soon. I think she is doing a good job with the scrapping.

Good Friday Morning

The weather forecasters have promised us another beautiful day today. Yesterday the high was 80 with very low humidity. A perfect day. The only problem, I was inside all day. The only draw back is that clouds will start moving in this evening, and like the past 3 weekends, we will have rain. We need it, but why can't it be on a Monday? I did get green beans planted, with sunflowers along with them, so the bean vines will have something to grow up. And look pretty, while being functional. I also planted some dill seeds, and some red okra seeds, some zinnias, cleome, nasturtiums (my mother always grew these when I was growing up) caladiums and petunias. My lettuce, since the rabbits have decided to leave it alone, is really growing, just as the green peas are doing. I also have put out tomato and pepper plants. This southern girl loves playing in the dirt. The card, I made awhile back, and just thought I would share with you. Don't forget to check out Heather's Friday Spark, today. Have a wonderful weekend. I plan to, whether it rains or the sun shines. Rain, I get to Scrap, sun, I get to play in dirt. I win either way.

Another Birthday

I am blessed with so many people that I call friends, and since I have started making cards, I am getting a little better at remembering birthdays. The birthday Rolodex I made helps me remember, and it is so nice because the address is right there with the date. This is just a little notebook i picked up at "Fred's" for $1.29. I added her name, some flower decals and the lady bugs, (i love lady bugs) and a bow. I will just drop it off at her house along with a card.

Did you guess correctly?

Well I guess by the pictures you have figured out what I was making. A Tri-fold frame that hides an air freshener. I saw it in a magazine, and thought I would try it. I will cut it down in size a little next time. Each frame is 6x7 now. The article said to make it 6x8 and I thought that was too large, so I cut and inch off. The next time I will make the finished product 6x5. I used poster board to make the initial frame, then scraped a picture of each of my 3 grand-daughters. I chose pink for each girl because, that seems to be each one's favorite color. Hope you had fun guessing. Can you believe it is Wednesday already. The weekend is on it's way. I hope all you Administrative assistants are recognized today for all the hard work you do.

Can You Guess

I had a treat last night, some friends invited us to their home for spaghetti . Of course I ate way to much spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. But still found room for strawberry shortcake. All of this leads up to the above pictures. I had started a little project when they called us, so I decided to take a picture of what I already had done, and let you guess as to what this is I'm going to make. It will have more embellishments then you see, the folded paper is 7'' tall and 19'' long. It is folded at 6'' intervals. When completed, it will slip over an object. Let's see which of you can figure it out first. Have fun.

Pat's Saturday Night Challenge

Pat's challenge this week was to incorporate some fabric into your layout. I was having a hard time with this one. so I started going through my photos and came across these black and white ones of my niece's wedding. I begin to think about how my sister and I worked getting the church decorated and the reception prepared, and remembered how hateful the toile was to us that day. It just wouldn't cooperate, and hang the way we wanted it too. And as they say "that light bulb went on again) The pictures are of the bride Nancy, Her and her new groom Russ, Nancy and her sister Jennifer, and in the bottom left hand corner, the bride, her mother, Rita, her grand-mother, Juanita, and her 2 aunts, Valda and me. Thanks Pat for the challenge.

It's all about friends

I had a fun day yesterday. I had lunch (Mexican) with two friends. The food was fabulous, the company was a blast. Wanda and I had helped with a housewarming for Bonnie back in Febuary. Wanda took all these great photos, and I tried to do them justice in a little scrapbook. Bonnie really made us feel as if she loved it. That is what friends do isn't it. They love the gifts of the heart, they don't see the little flaws. Hope you enjoying taking a peak at these. Thanks, Wanda for helping me with this.

Have you got a boo boo?

I have a friend that is going on a cruise next week, so I thought that I would make her this little first aid kit to take along with her. Then when Heather posted her Friday night Spark:

"This week's spark is to make something using my favorite color combination: orange and blue!"

I thought why not make the first aid kit in those colors. Now I don't have to worry about my friend having boo boos aboard ship. :) Maybe worry about other things she might do, but not boo boos. Have a good time Bonnie. Don't do anything I wouldn't do. *wink* *wink*

GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE

It is suppose to be in the high 70's today. Isn't that a extra plus to the fact it is also Friday. This morning I am showing you another (yes I said another) seed packet card. I send out a lot of packages of seeds in the spring. That way when they bloom my far away friends can feel close to me. Before Pat taught me the pleasures of "scrapping" they just got them inside an envelope, with a handwritten note. I think these are a much nicer way to get them. On the inside you can hand write a little note to the recipient. Hope your day is as wonderful, as I imagine mine to be.

P.S. Don't forget to check out Heather's Friday Spark.

Cookies Any One????

I have a friend that moved away, about 6 years ago and she always expects me to send her some cookies for her birthday. We used to get together at Christmas and make our Christmas treats together. I miss that. I couldn't figure out what to put them in this year, so they wouldn't get broke up in shipping. After making schnitzel for dinner last night, the light turned on in my head, after I used up all my bread crumbs and had started to discard the container. After she eats all her cookies, she can use it on her desk as a pencil holder or whatever. I wished I could send everyone a cookie to nibble on this morning to have with your coffee. Oh Well, guess I'll just have to eat them all myself. What a shame.

Wednesday

Well I have made it to Wednesday, so am looking forward to the weekend already. I have been busy the last couple of nights, and have not had time to let the creative juices flow. So I thought I would share with you the view from my dining room window right now. They are calling for frost again tonight, so it will get what yesterdays low temps didn't already get. These are ornamental crab apples. The fruit is about the size of a small cherry. Everywhere there was a bloom a little crab apple forms, and dries, but does not fall from the trees. In late fall and early winter, the cedar wax wings bombard the trees, and have all the dried fruit eaten in the matter of days. There must be 75 to 100 birds at one time, feeding off these little dried apples. It is so much fun too watch. Maybe this fall I will be able to get a photo of them. Also maybe tomorrow, I will have something creative to post. Have a good day

Heather's Challenge

Heather’s challenge was to make a card, that was inspired by a photo or picture from a magazine. On Pat’s blog, last week she posted some pictures of the ocean near where she lives. Well I was inspired by this one. Thanks Pat for the inspiration and Heather for the challenge.

Pat's Challenge

Pat’s Saturday Night Challenge was a toughie for me, as I have never made a tag album before.
But I have to admit, it was a very fun challenge. I couldn’t find the little hole reinforcements in colors, so I just colored the white ones. I was afraid with the little grand-daughters looking at it every time they came over to see themselves, that I had better make it a little sturdier. I also attached a clip to keep it closed. Pat said to use what we had on hand, but I didn’t have any rings. So off I go to Mine By Design, and she had just what I was looking for, colored ones!!! (They are so helpful, I always get individual attention)
I hope you enjoy seeing a peek at my family, Thanks, Pat for the challenge, I learned something new.

Upside down rainbow

I have had several people inquire about the upside down rainbow. So I googled it, cause I knew someone else could explain it better then me. This is what it said:

"What looks like an upside-down rainbow is actually a rare atmospheric spectacle called a circumzenithal arc. According to the San Francisco Chronicle: “it’s an unusual phenomenon caused by sunlight shining through a thin, invisible screen of tiny ice crystals high in the sky and has nothing at all to do with the rain.”

Feel free to be scientifically correct, but I’ll stick with calling it an “upside-down rainbow” … “circumzenithal arc” just doesn’t have the same pizzaz.

I really think I'll call it a RAINBOW SMILEY!

Lazy Saturday

I plan on it being one of those lazy Saturdays. It is suppose to rain most of the day. I will clean house, visit with grand-daughters, and try to finish Heather's and Pat's challenges. Oh yes, I am having lunch with some friends, so I thought I would make them a little gift. These are little note paper holders, made in the design of a matchbook. I thought they could carry them in their purses for convience.Very quick and easy after figuring out the dimensions to fold. Thanks for visiting my blog.

FRIDAY, FLOWERS, FROST

This little card reminds me that summer will soon be here. I loved it as a kid, when daises were every where. I still love the comforting feeling that I get, when I have a bouquet of daises sitting on my kitchen table. Back to the card, this one is for a friend, that is a little under the weather.
It is Friday, and I have bought several plants this week to sit out over the weekend, only to hear this mornings weather, that on Monday night we will have a frost/freeze warning. So I guess I will haul them all into the basement and maybe do that next weekend. I was really looking forward to getting them in the ground, and playing outside. Guess that means I'll just have to work on Pat's and Heather's challenges :) Hope every ones weekend is great.

Guess What

The sun did shine here yesterday. Just what I wished for. Since I worked outside after work yesterday, I didn't get anything made for today's post. I really enjoyed being outside. I planted rhubarb, and made a new herb pot. The ones I have now are looking scraggly. Is that a real word? I raked leaves, and cleaned out some of the flower beds. These photos are some of the other things that are blooming in Emily's Memory garden this spring. Enjoy

Is the Sun ever going to shine again?

My part of the world has been in a drought, and we love the rain, but not just cloudy days. Well at least I don't. I haven't seen the sun in 3 days. I know I am a complainer. :) I went shopping today to buy paint for the bathroom. Yes I said paint. I'm finally getting it ready to paint. My son, has replaced sheet rock, used kilz on the ceiling and walls, and then primed them and sanded it smooth. So now I get actual paint on it. Yeah!!! I even picked out flooring today. But to get back to the card, while I was at the local Lowe's store, I just had to mosey through the garden section. I'm addicted to seeds and flowers just about as much as I am to card making. I originally made these cards last year, but bought some extra packs today, to make some for this year. I have to put out bunches of sunflower seeds, cause the birds eat them while in the ground and then also the ones that make it to maturity. Let's think SUNSHINE!

Pat's Saturday Night Challenge

Here is my LO for Pat's Saturday Challenge. After I had it completed and saw her example I realized I had really not followed all the rules. But it has a special meaning to me, so I am sharing it with everyone. Emily was my dear friend, who was brutally murdered on Dec. 29, 2005. In the spring of 06 I started her MEMORY GARDEN. I was blessed to even have some of her own flowers to replant in my garden. Emily loved flowers, Emily loved everything and everyone. Please click on her link and read about her and the reward that is offered located on the side bar. Also here is the link to a online memorial that I wrote after her death. http://catless.ncl.ac.uk/vmg/A/An.html Scroll down till you come to her nameI have many more flowers blooming now but Pat's challenge just asked for 3. Hope you enjoy the page, and please click on the links to read about mine and Pat's friend.

SMILE

Yesterday was a busy day, so I didn't get anything completed as planned, so I am sharing with you a picture of my grand-daughter at her preschool graduation. Isn't this a happy picture for a dreary Monday morning. Life is beautiful, I am blessed. I'll be back tomorrow hopefully with my entry, for Pat's challenge of the week.

Heather's Challenge

Heather had just the right challenge for me this weekend. I needed a wedding card, so the glitter and sparkle fit right in. I used the same inkadindado stamp that you have seen on Pat's and Heather's blog. Pat so graciously gave me this stamp, aren't I the lucky friend. I used sparkle paper to piece the dress with, and the background on card was the same sparkle paper, then the paper that the outline of the dress was stamped on was just coordinating patterned paper. i put a little diamond shaped sparkle on the middle of the waist.
My husband took the good camera with him fishing and camping, so excuse the blurry pictures. It rained all day Saturday, I sure hope the sun shines tomorrow.

Open House

Back a couple of months ago a friend and myself gave another friend a little housewarming. She took the pictures and I put them together in a book. This is just a couple of pages of the small little scrapbook we put together for her. Her home is beautiful and it shows off all her talents. We had a big group, but still way too much food. Why do we always have more then we need. I panic if I think the food will run out. Hope you like the pictures. Our Saturday here in NC is going to be rainy all day, but we desperately need the rain. It is the first day of Trout Season, and my husband, camped out in the rain last night, just so he could get in the streams first thing at the break of day. But for some odd reason, he doesn't understand my addiction, isn't that strange. I'll let you know tomorrow if we have trout to fry. Needless to say since he is away from the house, I get to play all day. Pat and Heather both have challenges for me to do. Guess the laundry and house cleaning will be put on the back burner. Yeah that sounds like a plan.

Wait, till I find something to write on

You know how it is, you never have pencil and paper when you need it. These little note pads have a magnetic strip on the back. You can put on your refrigerator or filing cabinet, just where it will be easily accessible to your phone. Or you can hang from the hole in the clasp. One is bright the other subdued and the clasp will also hold your pen or pencil. Quick and simple, just take a disposable coaster, cover with your favorite patterned paper, add sticky note pad, embellishments if desired, and a inexpensive clip at top. Just the right little gift to have on hand for a "thinking of you." Hope everyone has a happy day!

WHAT DAY IS THAT?

My husband is always asking how do I keep up with everyone's birthday. I am always saying you need to call him/her and wish them a Happy Birthday. Well this is my secret. Pat at SouthernBreezes sent the instructions for this "cute" little system that helps me keep up with everyone. I come from a fairly large family, with lots of cousins, neices, nephews, so it is the perfect way to remember everyone's birthday or anniversary. Behind each month I have in chronlogical order for that particular month, each person's name and address and some I have listed special things I know they like.
